Christmas Style

People always ask me, FabEs why are you so fly? And I always say I don't know I just am. Then some people ask me how do you win Christmas? That one is a lot easier for me to answer, and it’s planning. it might seem like annoyance to some but for me is planning everything down to the last detail. I feel like I have said before, when I plan for Christmas I start as early as August. it gives me time to come with a couple of ideas I could develop and then see what I can execute with money and what is available. one of things that I like to think about during Christmas is what is going to be my theme.

I think about my theme in a few different elements; decorations, gifts, wrapping, food, and overall, theme for that year’s Christmas. Some people will realize all the different things I have just said, and think, oh that makes. Some of you might be think that might be overkill. To the latter I say you can only win Christmas when you decided plan so much to it.

Christmas 2021

For a few years now, like most things I do everything has an overall theme. With the Christmas’s of past there has been a theme, some of which I have just been how I’ve imagined Christmas. To name a couple, Throwback Christmas, blue Christmas, and Christmas by FabEs. Some years have just been Christmas, but not had thread that gone through all the elements. With my overall themes they have been this idea to create this Christmas that, has a feel like Christmas of childhood, or it’s a sad Christmas, or one I’m just feels right to me. It’s sounds like lot like staging I guess, and I guess Christmas is the performance. This year I had an original idea of black Christmas, but since that couldn’t be accomplished, I decided to just label this year the left over, as many of the decorations and other things will be from what I got last year and didn’t use.

Gifts

Now a running theme for gifts is easier for a lot of people to get behind. As I think a lot of us do it without even realizing we are doing it. We will by one gift then find something similar for someone else, then before we know it everyone usually has the similar thing. I have done this for multiple years, and now I’ve done something different. I do kids theme, and adult theme. Sometimes these do overlap. Christmas 2019 the theme was books, which can be for kids and adults. Whereas the previous year was perfume for adults, and kids was. I find this works as then everyone is getting something similar, and then I don’t have to feel like I am getting someone the something better than one some else.

I like to change it up each year too, as I don’t want to feel like I am giving people the same thing every year. It allows me to think about what I know about a person and how I can get a gift that falls into the same area. Of course, this isn’t a rule that needs to be followed by every gift, but it does narrow down the guess work.

Decorations

This one is a difficult one to navigate as until recently it hasn’t always been my choice to do decorations. I have always just mainly focused on the everything else. However, I did decide to get my own my tree for 2019 and decided to do my own decorations for my portion of the house. Which is why, I got a rainbow tree. Which some found interesting, and some thought to be in poor taste. I say it was my choice, and I can do what I want with it. I decided to get a colourful tree as I am a colourful person, and I like to have non-traditional things around me.

Of the course then my them with the decorations was the colour spectrum. I found decorations that were neon or bright, and them I colour matched the tree with everything. With the yellow part of the tree were match with the other yellows items I had gotten, and then everything else follow suit. It was an easy thing for me to do and in the end it all matched up. I am going to do the same again this year. I don’t know, maybe I might reverse the colours and see how it looks, or I might just keep it the same.

Wrapping

For Christmas I am very particular about wrapping. I like for all my wrap to look similar or have a reason behind it. Such as having one paper for main gift, one for the stocking filler and one for the kids. I don’t like to use vague terms like nice, I like to be more specific. Wither its blue wrap, or parcel wrapping looking paper. That’s how deceive I like for it too look. Then try to match my ribbon work to make it contrast and make it stand out. When you see a gift, you know it’s a gift by FabEs.

Of course, there are many different types of wrap people can use. I know some people like to choose what is cheaper, I think by now we know I am lot more specific about my choices. Which is why I like thick paper, nice to touch, and isn’t transparent. I am very particular. The thing that always annoys me is when I find a paper I like, and it runs earlier than I expected. Which is why I make sure I know how many rolls I need. Which sometimes is easier if I’ve got them gifts first or if I know what I am getting.

Food

As for food I have done through a stage or introducing a few traditional every year. the food is a hybrid of a lot of things. I like to incorporeal now things my grandad used to cook in the meal. While I have also brought my interests into the mix, with now have a Japanese Christmas Eve. which consists of having KFC on Christmas eve and me baking a strawberry shortcake. Which is nice.

I like to think the theme of my Christmas food to is what do we like? What deserts can we add to the table? What other foods do other countries have for Christmas? I feel like Christmas is this theme of my family traditions of food, mixed with a little bit of the FabEs style mixed in. Which is why I think these years Christmas will be interesting. As I feel this year’s theme will be what didn’t we have last year? Bring it.

I hope my discussing what I do for Christmas has helped some people understand the detail of what goes into a Christmas. I know a lot people would be feels it’s too much, and I understand. For me I like for things to be thought and execute early one, so I am not rushing around a day or two before Christmas for the things I need. I do also hope I have also made a few people think about what they do Christmas. Is panned, something not planned something not. Or do you have frantic time trying to get everything sorted. I don’t think any one way is right. I just like for you to try and have some personality in your Christmas.
