Retro Future

Dear Friends,

As I have previously stated I don’t know how I am going to continue my gaming lifestyle. It has become a mystery to and a need I want to have, but the question of how has been alluding me. Then it was something obvious that came to me. Why am I trying to keep up with new games and systems when I have a huge back catalogue I can play trough? While also not wasting the small fortune I spent on getting everything.

I came to this decision because of main ideal at the moment. I like games, and when I think back to all the games I used to play and how much fun I used to have. I thought, why aren’t I doing this more? I know that it’s not going to be the same for all games, as some of the ones I played were two player, but I know I can try and enjoy what I’ve got.

Another factor in this decision was, we’re in September and so far this year I’ve only wanted 3 games that have come out this year, and I’ve got one of the three (just waiting for the price drop). If were to wait for something I actually wanted to play, that happens to be new I would be waiting a long time. Jumping to something retro would be a logical step.

Now a question someone might ask is, but how do I know this will work. I actually tried it not too long ago. I booted up one of my old systems, and replayed something I haven’t in years. I know it was a replay, but since I had forgotten so much of the controls and tactics, in a way it was like a new game to me.

It is crazy to think just one game generation ago, I had so many games, and I have play nowhere near half. While seeing as I must have got most of the games for some reason, I think it’s time I play them. When I think about when I did this a few time in the past I realised that I do enjoy gaming.

It would be nice if was just satisfied there, but it’s me of course I’m not. What I have realised jumping down this rabbit hole, is that there are still a tonne of games I wanted at a time or another, and I never got around to playing. Given that last generation had so many AAA titles I never got them. CeX has been my go to, to find some of the titles that are still being talked about today. Seeing as a lot of these were made a mass I have been able to pick up good quality titles for as little as £1, now that’s the kind of game I can afford.

I am glad I have found a way to get back into video games. I just wish my TV stand was big enough to hold everything I own, but those are the breaks off a collector. Now I just to need to get my hands on the slimmer version of one or two consoles and I think it would allow me to have a better display, but for now I’m gonna pick up the WiiMote one more time and have fun like the good old days.
