Dear Friends,

Do you ever dream of winning the lottery? What do you think you would do with the money you won. Sadly, in the world we live in, I don’t expect the money to go that far. As I live in London, I would be paying a couple million for a flat in the area I want to live in. I have settled into the idea that, I will live a modest lifestyle, but it was not always been that way.

When I was younger, back when I was teen, there was so many things I wanted. I want to have as much money as I could, so I do what I wanted. Growing up somewhat poor can have that effect on people. I wanted to write a best-selling novel, and have all the money I wanted. I planned to not live in the UK, I wanted to living the US, and boy, do I no longer want to do that. But it was the dream, I would have everything I wanted and not worry. Like a lot of people, these dreams didn’t manifest.

I now live in the real world, and in the real world, life sucks. You have some many different bills to pay, and lot of them you bring on yourself. Like, if have a car the expenses just come out nowhere. Car tax, MOT, insurance and the odd traffic or parking fine, just come for you. Then there are other things you never realised as a kid cost a lot of money. Christmas, is one of those things, that if you don’t budge can cost you up about £5/600. Then of course, a lot the money, you don’t spend on yourself goes on children. I didn’t realise how much parents spend on their kids. Which kind makes me and some people, feel bad about how shitty there when they were younger. As an adult you learn.

Yes, I have learned a lot how to be a sensible adult. One of the things you need to do is save. If you can afford to, the best way is to put some money away in account. Something I used to think was a waste of time. Now however, I learned by saving money for two years I was able to sustain myself for a year without a job. If I had told myself 15 years ago, they would said buying that new game would be the best use of my money.

The second thing, is to budget. Which is hard to do sometimes, but over the years I have grown to love it really. I have a budget for my shopping, my own personal spending, and savings. Then I know how much money I have left as buffer. As well as budging things like birthday gifts, and one in a blue moon a evening out. One of the other things I have learned, is to say no. Which of course is hard. As some people around you like to do very expensive things. If I can afford to do a thing I’ll do it, and if can’t, I cant. I know there is a big fear of FOMO, but if I can’t I can’t. It’s much better not to over spend, than do something that will regret later on.

Which kind brings me to my next point. There have bene a lot of people around who like to splash the cash on things. Me personally, I am budget and bargain hunter. Some people don’t see it as that, they see it as cheap. They would rather pay more than they need to, for the most simplest things. To which say I say, you do you. Some people look down on my for doing these things, and don’t really care. It annoys me very much how some people insist that they pay for me, and think I can’t afford to do a thing. When in truth, I should be asked before hand if want to do a thing. If I really want someone I will make it happen.

I know some people who are in the higher percentage of earns, they like to think they have the power the call all the shots. I have this happen with a few people I have dated, where they felt because they earned more, means they are more important. Anyone who thinks, is kinda fucked up. I don’t care about how much money you make it doesn’t mean you better than me, or you have the power over me. if you think that goes you an edge, well good for you, I don’t care.

One of the things I have accepted, is the life I’m going to lead. One of things I’ve learned is I am going to be living a moderate life style. Now as a teacher, I know what my annual salary will be. As such I know what kind of things I can afford. Whereas when I was working retail I didn’t know what I was going to be afford month to month. In addition, I personally feel what I get for my current job, is a somewhat decent enough wage to live off. I know I will be able to have a decent home, and not do anything OTT. I think about the life I will lead, is what my family expected when they migrated to England. To life a comfortable lifestyle.

As much as I would like to have millions of pounds in my account I can’t see that happening. I might write a best seller, but I now know you still don’t get that much. I am just going to carrying on budgeting, and live how I want to. While still enjoying my life when I can, by treating myself. As I know,  you can’t take it with you, and you only live once. So for now, I’m going to settle for a regular, life style.
