Lost In Paris Day 1
Bonjour friends,
Welcome to my little trip. I will be taking you on a little guide of what I have been doing while I am on holiday. This holiday I have taken a little trip to Paris, to be gay and in Gaye Paris. This is the last part of my birthday. Yes, this is part of my birthday, because of work reasons I can not go away on or around my birthday. Tune in everyday as I give you my dear friends, a little run down of what I have been getting up to everyday.
I escaped to Paris with The Ex, and we decided to get the Eurostar; At 4:31 pm we got on the Train. Which was a different experience to flying. It has the same security and same border checks. It was a lot more relaxed, and you don't really have to worry about carrying too much liquid. Then we waited to board the Le Train, and off we went.
The train itself was comfy, it was just like going cross county to Manchester. Just like trains to Manchester, the wifi didn't work. I just played some switch, replied to messages when I got them. Then eventually went to check out the food, and test out my travel debit card. I paid €7.10 to have a seasonal quiche. Which was fine, could have been better. Then before we know it, we were in Paris.
Getting out of the station was just getting off the train at Waterloo in the morning. A lot of people, and a lot of people not knowing where they are going. Then we needed to get Navigo cards (Paris’ oyster) where, to my surprise, queuing up to speak to a person took longer than the automated machine. I joined the very fast moving queue, and figured what I needed to pay. As the machine did offer English, I paid €10.40 on the card and 4 journeys, then we were off to the metro.
When I travel something happens, of course. The line we needed to get to our hotel was having work done, starting that day. Then google maps was telling us to get a bus. I used my smarts to do what I do in London. Look at map and see how i can get there using multiple trains. Which i did. Eventually city mapper figured it out, and I found my route to be correct. Then it was time for a pee.
I normally hate paying for toilets, but when I paid €1 it was money well spent. The toilet was clean smelt fresh, and it was a joy to use. Not sarcasm, it was a great pee. I just hope the next time I need to use the loos, I can find a free one.
Using the metro was easy. After figuring out how to touch in. We then followed the sign and it was easy to know which train you needed. Then changing was somewhat confusing, as the arrows point in two different directions for stairs and escalator. Then we finally made it to our hotel at Porte de Clichy.
To say I love the lobby is an understanding. It has a rug I want, a cushion I want. Arcade machines I want. It made me rethink how I want to have my room when I get home. We then paid the city tourist fee (I know) then our room was on the 4th floor.
The room reminds me of a Travelodge or a Premier Inn. It’s simple, it looks clean and it has a nice view. It’s just a shame the bed has some small ass pillows. overall its not bad value for money. While the TV has a USB port, none of the stuff will play. Boo! All in all it was a fairly painless journey. Now tomorrow the real fun begins. Now I’m off to have my Mojito and wake up, Lost in Paris.
Xo FabEs.
