Glam: Glasses

Glam: Glasses

Glasses my original accessory. When I was thinking about me doing a post about changing my style, one of the original things I thought about was my glasses. What is wild to me, I’ve had the same one pair of glasses for two years. Which shows my real lack of care about how I look, and I wondered why? When usually I have three or four pairs just lying about. Now it’s time for me to change that. Also, given that I’ve recently had my eye test and not had prescription change (first time in decades) it’s time to make my eye wear glam

When I look myself in the mirror, I’ve been thinking do my current glasses suit me? I keep thinking it looks okay, but I do think I need to change it. I need to have a smaller almost invisible pair of glasses. Which I think will help me look a bit better in my view (do let me know if you disagree). But those of us who wear glasses as a regular everyday thing, do you think your glasses suit your face? Or have you like me just stuck to the same kind of glass for how many years. Maybe it’s time to switch it up a bit, and I did have a couple thoughts.

My current Pair

I have been thinking about all the glasses I’ve worn for the last 30 odd years, which ones did I really like. I’ve been thinking about why did I choose them? Did I choose them because they were on trend? Or did I choose them because I do actully like them. Or was it, someone suggested they suit my face. Whatever it was I chose them. Have you do done the same as me?

As I have to use my glasses every day, this is one area I don’t like to cheap out. I like to get good quality glasses. Which why this decision this time around hasn’t been easy. Don’t get me wrong I have used discount online shops to get glasses, and they have been great. They are a nice price and look the part. The only thing I’ve had issue with is the sizing. Which is why I feel like you need to do in person shopping. You need to try it on. See if the arms fit, and see if they are comfortable for long periods. As pairs I have in the past have issues with using over hear headphones, or have too short or long arms, that can fall off your face.

If you are thinking about the pennies, one thing you can do is upcycle your glasses. I do still have one pair of glasses I got a few years ago in good condition. Which I think suit me. I’m going to reglaze them, and use them as my work glasses. As they are a combination of my current “everyday” pair, and they happen to be designer. Then this way I would only need to find one more pair.

Why would I need another pair, just to make sure I can switch it up you know. I used have 3 pairs of glasses that I got for about £7/6 and one was yellow, one white and one black. I did this so I could match my glasses with my shoes or what colour I was wearing that day. Extra yes, but added some flavour to myself. While also the change of colour heled people notice my face a bit more. A little vainly isn’t a bad thing. Which is why Id like my third pair to be something different, than the who I already have.

Normally I would tell you what I think is a good thing for people. However, glasses are an intimate beast. As different shape or style of glasses, can really effect a person face, this is something that is very unique. I’ve seen people who follow trends and it really doesn’t suit there face. Which is why if you are now getting older and need to wear glasses; makes sure you pick the glasses that suit your face, and not the most expensive pair in the place. Or better yet, go with that friend who is critically honest, that way you will get the best pair you can. My best advice like anything, give your self some options and if you can have two to switch it. Go from glam to business. As for me I’m going to go from Geek to Boss.
