Flavour of The Month

Flavour of The Month

Dear friends,

Where has this year gone? It feels like this year has gone quick, but in some ways it has gone slowly. However, unlike most years when I have to think about the things I did, this year I kept track. For once I actually stuck to something that was beneficial. While at the same time I did it for here. So let’s wrap this up.

As it seems every single apps has jumped on the wrapped train, and I thought I would do the same. Like a lot of my posts it takes planning to get things done. When I was at this point last year I was like, how can I make a post of what I’ve done in the last year? I decided to document everything I did. From friends meet ups, games I played, books I read and my monthly goals. Since now I have something to look back at, I can say I’ve done a lot this year. That is something to be celebrate.

I think like most people, they set New Year Resolutions and a lot of people forget about them by February. Or in some cases, set ones that are really unrealistic. I can say I am one of these people, so this year I worked out a way to do them that was more manageable. I decided to Big Picture Goals and Little Picture Goals. With the little picture goals back up the big ones. As to what were my big pictures goals there were;

·       Take a decent picture a month

·       Have more fun

·       Be who I am

These seem simple enough, but I am going to tell you that last one was really hard, but as I say the small picture goals did help me. The way in which they did that, was I would set me myself three small goals, my flavours of the month and I would try do them all to help me keep to my resolutions.

If you can remember all the way back to January and March, where I wrote about my daily drinking challenge, that was me trying to be more fun; while trying to be who I am. I found myself just writing a bit too much for my monthly scrapbook, so then it became a thing of I would document my little tasks in a book and have it there as a memento for me in 10 years. As for the simple challenges, they were all simple things I could do, from things like: making sure I hit the gym a certain umbers a times, to listening to new music. What was more surprising is, only failed two times one of these goals; which wasn’t due to me, but the failure was also helpful.

What else helped me is the weekly self-assessment I like having this, as I can see where I have been mentally and socially. It’s a way for me to know I am doing okay, and this year I am glad to see that things never dipped below X. Which is great to say, which is safety to say I have had a good year. Which after a few years (or decades) of shitty years it’s good to have good data to back my claim that his year hasn’t been too bad.

Some of you might be wondering why I did it do this? Or isnt that a lot of effort, and the truth is, yes it was. However, if you haven’t been playing attention this is who I am. I like to make sure I am okay. I like to make sure I am making good on my promises. This was just an effective way of me doing things. It just worked this year, and I will see if works for me next year. It may not, but at least I know in 2023 was a personal success, and think that’s all that matters,

I will continue to try and be me. I don’t even know what I want for me for the next 12 months, big or little picture. Maybe it will come to me mid-way through Jan, or even when I am proofing. All I know with my three goals for the next twelve month it’s time to mix it up and having some interesting interactions. Until then wait and see.

I wish everyone a Happy New Year!

XOXO FabEs
