Brownies
When I bake, I like to think about all the things I can share with people. One of the best things that is easy to make and share is a tray bake. I have made a load of different tray bakes, but I always like to come back to a classic. The brownie, a recipe I have used for almost ten years. Which is why I am going to share with you today.
Ingredients
175 grams unsalted butter
250 grams caster sugar
75 grams plain flour
40 grams cocoa powder
175 grams dark chocolate
3 medium eggs
One the thing I will say about this recipe is use the best quality ingredients. You want to use cocoa powder, don’t use drinking chocolate. You want a high level of coca ratio, as it allows the brownies have the nice chocolatey taste. The same goes for the chocolate, use dark chocolate. I know a lot of people don’t like dark chocolate, but you need the dark chocolate to help with the chocolatey taste within the brownies.
Method
Heat your oven to 180 degrees C. Then line a baking tray with grease proof paper, and make sure you butter the sides. If you someone who doesn’t grease your sides, I will recommend it, as it will make getting everything out easier.
Next melt the butter and milk together to make a buttery chocolate mix. There are two ways you can do this. You can put them in a small bowl over a pot of simmering water. Option two, put the two in a bowl and microwave them for 30 seconds, and then continue you to do this for 10 seconds after that. If you do go this way make sure you stir after every microwave blast, as you don’t want your chocolate to burn.
While your chocolate is melting, whisk together your eggs and sugar. If your using an electric mixer great. If you’re not, you will have to use a whisk to help give the eggs air, to help give your brownies the light fluffiness.
After you have got your eggs to a nice thick creamy consistency, pour over your chocolate and butter mixture. Then gently fold in the mixture and be careful not to drop the air of out of your mixture. Then sift in the cocoa and flower into your mixture and fold in them.
Before you put the mix in to the pan, you can add anything you want to mix to give it a little more taste. I like to drop in white chocolate chips to give it, a black and white look. You could add nuts, or you could throw in some M&Ms the choice is all yours.
If you don’t want to you, can just pour the mix into the tin and back for 25 minutes to 30 minutes. Do your cake test around the 25-minute mark, as you don’t want a runny brownie. If still looking to runny, check ever 3-4 minutes till nothing it is left on your cake tester.
Results
Once your brownies have baked, leave it in the tin to set, then cut into as many squares as you want. In the past melted some chocolate, and poured over to give it more chocolatey taste, and more calorific. Once again, the choice is yours. Enjoy with a nice cup of coffee.
