Valentines Day
I’m a fan of valentine’s day. There we go, post over do I need to say more? Maybe I should, because some of you might be wondering why?
It’s because I am an optimist, and I like to think about love quite a lot. When it comes to Valentine’s day, I like to think about the love I have for people. Wither that is a romantic love, platonic and familial love. I’ve slowly started to add in self love in their in recent years, but that’s whole different thing.
For me Valentine’s day is a time I think about the people I love, and I think about do I say it enough? Or how do I show this love? But most likely, it’s just a nice time of year to think about that kind of thing. Some people seem to think that we don’t need a day to that, but for me it’s just a nice way to remember these kind of things. Not that I forget about these things for the rest of the year.
I think for me I like to think about V-day as time where I think about the optimism about what could happen with a romantic partner. Which is why in recent years I’ve always planned or done something about it, wither it be on this site, or wither it be throwing a lovely planned party, that ended horribly. 2011 if you’d like to know. It’s weird I mean some people get so excited of Halloween, I get excited for V-day. I mean, you should know I’m weird (unless you’re new here).
In the past I have brough the happiness to people at my work and home. I used to always volunteer to merchandise the V-day display. Made sure to play love songs all day. As well as having decoration and themes for the previously mentioned party. I like to turn a negative into a positive. Some people hate the day, and all what is stands for. Which why I like to bring the lighter side to it, to the show it isn’t all bad. Just because you’re singe you cant celebrate.
I celebrate the day in a very unique way. I like to celebrate the day with friends, family and dates. I mean why not? With friends, I celebrate our friendship. Sometimes I find a nice card, so times I just say it. In the past I’ve also had to make friends feel better about being alone on this day. I am optimistic for them, to have a date for the next year. While also helping them remember the day, and helping them celebrate.
As with family, I used to get my mum a gift. It’s not weird; primary schools make kids make cards for the parents, so it’s not weird. It I wouldn’t do anything extensive, just a box of her favourite chocolates. Or one year I found on her favourite movies and I got it for her. You know simple little things. Or just making a very nice brunch, with bucks fizz and everything. Simple nice little things.
As for dates on valentine’s day, in the thirty four years I’ve been a I’ve have two dates. Three maybe at a push. Which some might be like, that’s sad. But actually like I said I’m optimistic. I eventually I will have one ever year for a couple years in the future. Also while I was writing actully I realised I have had three. Which is nice. The one at a push, was with a guy who I saw a week before, as he was going away.
As for the other two; one you can kinda of be a part of, if you jump over to the sounds section and listen to the valentine’s day special. While the other was just before the world came to a full stop. Which I wont go into now, but will come up later on in the term. (foreshadow!) I will say it was nice trying to figure what we wanted to do, if he wanted to do anything. Of course we did, and I enjoyed it. Actully we celebrated twice that year when I think about it. It was one of the best valentines day’s I’ve had. Not to say being single I don’t have good ones. It’s just a good day, in my memory.
All in all I’m a big STAN of valentine’s day. The why is a mystery to me. I think for me is the idea of love and what it means to me. I have forever being getting people together, and for this day just signifies that. Or maybe it’s just that I’m just so crazy optimistic that one day it will happen to me. As I say other people have Halloween, I’m not big on it, let me have this.
