Money In The Bank
Dear Friends,
After my little summer vacation FabEs is back, continuing my subject of money. I hope you didn't think we were finished. Today I am going to talk about putting money in the bank. It has got me wondering if a lot of us are stacking that paper, or are we all blowing through it.
A long time ago I was told every time I got paid I should put something into my savings. Wither it was for a rainy day fund, or just to have savings just in case the worst happens. However, never followed this advice, was to do with my young mind of having money. and being like i can buy this. I can honestly admit I wish I got into the habit of saving. Now I know better, but I can't actually afford to save much, but I am trying.
When I moved jobs two years ago, I got a pay boost within my first month, and I decided to save the extra every month, as it was money I was never expecting. The day I got paid I transferred it out right way so i couldn’t see it and have no access to the account. I used these funds to bank roll my trip to Seoul last year. Since I’ve been I have fallen out of the habit.
My issue is once I could afford to get rid of a certain amount each month, but at the moment i cant really afford it anymore. All I have in my savings is about 99p, which isn’t doing much interest wise. I bet you are wondering why can't I? Well like most things do, everything has gone up, and by doing so it has cut into the amount of money I have to spend. This is why i feel on my current pay level I can’t put money in the bank any more.
Now the smarter of you would be like, but FabEs shouldn’t you cut back on your spending. To that I say, I have. There are new expenses I have to pay is cutting into money already. Such as driving lessons, and nice date nights. I don't regret any of these expenses as they are necessary and I am happy to pay them, it just means I am not able to save at the moment.
I would very much like to save money, and not just crimp on everything to save me a couple of pounds, but actually allowing me to save hundreds so i can afford the real things I want. I have known of my financial difficulties for a while, and what I’ve learned is that I'm not being paid what I am worth. The moment i am, i will be able to go back to putting money away to buy my fancy five oven cooker. For now it's going to take me awhile.
All I want to say is if like me you have difficulties saving, because you are not paid enough, don't let anyone make you feel guilty about it. Just do something proactive if you want to save, see where you can cut out goings, and save the little you can, because eventually it will be something. I am going to do the same, i am going to put away a couple every month. I can do this if I stop buying Costa coffee all the time, that money can go in my piggy bank and do more for me in a few months. If you are able to save, good on you, because I think we all wish we had money in the bank.
