Day One

Day One

Dear friends,

I want to welcome you all to my new series, when ever I travel I will do a daily post no matter how short or long, just so I have documented what I have done that day. Also keeps you guys updated, and get me some daily internet traffic.

First of all this trip is a big deal to me for a lot of reasons. With this trip it brings an end to the celebration of 30 years, which is a nice way to end the celebration. This also happens to be a dream holiday destination for me, and lastly I’m traveling halfway way around the world alone.

I’m writing this on a plane, on a train and maybe even in a coffee shop. So this might seem a big disjointed, but stay with me. Thanks to a B I was dropped off at the airport nice and early which allow me to check my bags get a cup of tea before I bored. However, it didn’t mean that everything went smoothly as I forgot my padlock for my big case, and didn’t find a set of locks till after I had dropped the bag off. But nonetheless I continued on.

Getting through airport security was easy, even though my bag got checked since I forgot about my travel toiletries in my hand luggage. Then I was finally free to go get on my plane. After what was like my tenth bathroom brake I decided against getting the huge bottle of vodka, but did make my way to the Harry Potter shop and got small things as I wasn’t spending internationally yet.

I am not going to lie a part of me was nervous about getting on a plane. I had a fear of flying even though the last time I did I was fine, but I think it was the hole I’m going alone thing which was bothering me. And why it bothered me was, if I had a freak out or something there was no one I knew to help me. To best calm my nerves I got myself a cider, downed it on my pretty empty stomach and I felt more relaxed and less nervous.

Going to be board I realize I was the only man of color on this flight and it was something I noticed right away, it did unnerve me a little, but I knew I had to get used to be the one who stood out.

Getting on the plane was fine, but my seat wasn’t. I did have a nice window seat which was nice, but the leg room where I was wasn’t. But it did allow me to get some great shots, like my Thames picture which I think is a great shot of my home from so far up. I should also say me getting on the plane going up and see the height I was fine with it all. No sickness, no worry I was fine, I didn’t know what I was worried about, but I do know I’m a worrier so I worry about everything.

My plan was to stay up and sleep for most of my flight to get on to Seoul time, that plan didn’t pan out. Since I worry I worried for the last couple days that I had forgot something or would need something so I had barely slept for the last few days. Which would have been fine for me to sleep on the plane, but since I had my airport ride staying the night  i couldn’t stay up all night, and make the noise and moments I needed to. But it was fine because like I said I had barely slept any way.

Me trying to sleep on this plane wasn’t going to happen. When I did fall asleep when we hit turbulence, I would wake with a start thing thing we're going down. Then when I was finally able to get to sleep for a longish time, I was woken by cabin crew every freaking time for food. And I was like dam it! And it took me ages to drop off again. I think I got about 2 hours sleep out of the 10 hour flight, but hey that’s life. Then when we landed fine and that concluded day one.

So my day two will be about me officially being here, and what I did that day. But that’s going to have to wait as I’m going for a nap then it's time to hit the city.

XO FabEs
